Jon Duncan Junior Deeside Cup

Aka (JD)2C, the Jon Duncan Junior Deeside Cup, named for Jon Duncan ex-GRAMP and GBR orienteer, is an annual competition between Gramp and Maroc Juniors.

Each year the two clubs agree on a list of 9 colour coded events which will earn you points depending on your finishing position and your best 5 scores are added up to give you your overall (JD)2C score. If you take part in any event, make sure that you register with your club name and age class so that the Cup coordinators know to include you in the calculations.

Juniors can choose to run on any course appropriate to their ability/comfort zone but the more difficult courses earn higher points so it pays to be ambitious and keep moving up the colours if you can.

The highest placed Gramp/Maroc Junior on each course earns the maximum points available for that course and subsequent finishers are awarded points using a simple formula.

Max points for the fastest: White 200, Yellow 300, Orange 400, Light Green 500, Green 600, Blue 700 and Brown 800.
And the formula for subsequent runners on each course is:
[ (winner’s time) / (runner’s time) ] * (maximum course points)

If you are being shadowed or running in a pair, please declare this when you register. You will score half points for your run.

At the end of each year, the winners of each age class (M/W8 through to M/W16) are awarded special (JD)2C trophies, usually at their respective clubs’ AGM/socials.

Good luck!!
