A very wet but thankfully warm (OK – tepid) night and most folk got a real drooking half way round.
It was still raining so much by the time Helen finished that she drove 20m to the Chillimobile rather than get her spare dry clothes wet!

Control 172 was incorrectly placed on the small hill ~30m NE of where it should have been.
I have therefore voided leg 4-5 on the Short and 8-9 on the Long as although everyone found it in the end it is obvious from the splits and RG that it caused those who read the map and contours correctly a lot of bother. I haven’t voided the subsequent leg though as the two sites are so close that it wouldn’t have affected navigation away from 172.
Apologies for this – I spent quite some time recce-ing that area when planning and can only put the misplacing on the day down to my brain still whirring away with work stuff following a very hectic morning and O-mode yet to fully kick in.

You know Rob told us about geo-referencing maps at the AGM? Well what can I say but WOW!?
Loading RG2 with the geo-referenced version of the GD map was so quick and easy in comparison to the old way. I can now see why Rob was so keen to treat himself the club to a GPS to do this!
